TRU PRODUCER BOOT CAMP
Pitching & Presentation Skills
for Producers, Writers & Everyone!

a NEW improved full-day, two-part program
with Jane Petrov and Roy Havrilack of Skytown Entertainment

Thank you so much for the Producer Boot Camp Seminar. Roy and Jane were fantastic and so helpful. I had a great day and learnt so much. ~ Danielle Connor (producer)

The day was excellent! I was very impressed with the quality of the material, delivery and participants. It was nice to all be on the same playing field! This is one of the best seminars I have attended and very much worth the money! Thank you for all that you did to make this happen! ~ David Flora (producer)

Thank you many times over for putting together the Pitching and Presentation Skills workshop, I really learned SO much and met many wonderful people. I learned I look like an apologetic librarian from Idaho, which isn't so bad, that my eyes tend to scan and I can get scattered, and that I need to work on projecting confidence. ~Eileen Deutsch (writer-producer)

I enjoyed the session very much and met some great people. I'm looking forward to more events. ~ Georgia Buchanan (producer - Kat and the Kings, Communicating Doors, Springhill Singing Disaster)

I had a great great time and learned a lot. ~Richard Winkler (producer - Memphis, The Norman Conquests)

You certainly have workshops that are very worthwhile. I've learned a lot from yesterday in addition to meeting the wonderful people who attended. ~Fred Rohan-Vargas (writer)

I loved the workshop, and recommend it highly. ~ Theresa Wozunk (producer - Liberty)

The economy may be a mess, but if we don't make an effort to go about "business as usual", there may never again be "business as usual." Now more than ever, producers and writers need to hone and finetune their skills with the hope of bringing their projects to fruition. Perhaps in the future. And maybe even now. We believe that there is an audience for good theater even in a bad economy, and that the theater community needs to hold on to its passion and vision and push forward with conviction.

People are still producing, people are still investing. And theater is suddenly as reasonable an investment as the stock market, and a helluva lot more fun. Do you have the skill to find what is true and important about your ideas, and to present them clearly and convincingly? TRU continues our exploration of "The Art of the Pitch" with this all-day intensive workshop created to help you be true, effective and persuasive.

Jane Petrov and her team did a sample Pitch & Presentation evening for our Producer Mentorship Program recently, and the mentees in our program found it so helpful and inspiring they asked us to put together this full day workshop.

Our curriculum is as follows:

Saturday October 10th, 2009

Part I: THE PITCH               11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Most writers and producers in the entertainment industry, such as movie and television, need to know how to successfully pitch their projects to producers and financiers if they are to see their vision come to life. Even book authors need to know how to pitch their projects to publishers. The same holds true for theater writers and producers, it’s a skill that can only help you succeed.

This class will focus on creating a clear and concise FORMAT that will help participants organize and prepare content for their pitch.  Upon registration, participants will receive detailed information on the FORMAT to best prepare for the class.

Part II: THE PRESENTATION     3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Successful writers and producers must be able to make dynamic presentations.  Without training, many people lack the confidence, energy and clarity that producers and financiers expect.

Participants will be coached in the physical skills needed to succeed at a pitch meetings, both formal and informal settings.  They will spend most of their class time in coached exercises and videotaped role plays.  Video is used as a teaching tool.

Participants learn to:

  • Present pitch with an energetic and polished style
  • Speak and gesture naturally
  • Use notes effectively
  • Handle interruptions and tough questions
  • Adjust to various physical settings

Cost: $175 for full day
$100 for either half day session
