RICHARD J. KANE

has spent the past twenty years teaching music from elementary school through college. He currently teaches elementary music, band, and choir at Southside Elementary School, directs his church choir, leads the Juniata College Pep Band, and serves as Tournament of Bands Region Coordinator for Allegheny Mountain Region XI. He has written, produced, and staged three original musicals, including two in the same year because apparently he enjoys anxiety attacks, and also works as a composer, arranger, marching band drill designer, and freelance trumpet player. His most recent musical, Timeless Town, began as a commissioned historical production and grew into a full-length time-travel musical about memory, grief, history, and the consequences of trying to change the past. At the center of Richard’s work is a fascination with history, memory, humor, grief, and ordinary people discovering that their lives matter more than they think they do. He is also a happy husband and proud father of two girls and one feral boy, which remains his favorite production to date.
