What I Didn’t Know You Could Do in a Virtual Play Reading!
Friday 2/23/24,  at 5pm ET.

Community Gathering on Zoom - register with the bright red reservation box to receive the Zoom link. These gatherings are a service for the theater community and are offered free for TRU members; we ask that non-members help keep us running by making a donation or joining as a member.

TRU Voices creative teams talk about the experience of preparing their plays for virtual presentation. In the room: Iben Cenholt, managing producer of TRU Voices; John Ewing III, producer and Christopher Scott, director of 1920; Nicolette Blount, producer of Rolling with the Punches; and Susan Griffin of Wayward Creatoves Entertainment, producer of Un Hombre: A Golem Story. What was gained, and also was anything lost for the audience experience? What are the options offered for virtual production, and why did they choose the technical formats that they chose? What did they learn from being thrust into a virtual presentation? Did the writers gain insights into their work that they can take with them into future productions? And if they had it to do over again ... would they? And to get down to the basic question we always ask: if it's filmed, is it still a play?
