Divaria seeks to create one of a kind quality experiences that make opera easy to digest for a modern audience.

Divaria strives to widen the audience for opera by interacting with other art forms like theatre, dance & film and by re-crafting stories to make them relatable and socially relevant for audiences of today. To this end, Divaria has partnered with multiple institutions including New York’s Saint Patrick’s Old Cathedral, the Sheen Center, the Italian-American Museum, Salome Chamber Orchestra, Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theatre and Spain’s Rioja Lirica to produce works such as a bilingual version of José Serrano’s Spanish zarzuela La Dolorosa which explored the struggles of immigrant women, Othello: The Opera & Play Enmeshed which blended Shakespeare’s and Verdi’s Othellos, and Don Giovanni in New York a historical reenactment of NY’s first Italian opera production in 1826, commemorating Mozart’s librettist & early Italian immigrant Lorenzo da Ponte. During the pandemic, we created and presented Rival Queens, a new art form merging documentary film and opera that told the story of Mary Queen of Scots & Queen Elizabeth, as a “historic metaphor for the tragedy of judgment and choosing fear over trust, painting a powerful picture of the destruction that the naked push for power leaves in its wake.”

SARA KOCH CASTING
Representative: Sara Koch, Founder and Casting Director (AM + PM)

About: I am the Founder of, and Casting Director at Sara Koch Casting for the past 12 years. Sara Koch Casting is a boutique casting agency that takes pride in creating strong ensemble projects which during this calendar year has worked in television, film and theatrical projects, both on the east and west coasts. Sara Koch has had previous experience as a performer and working at multiple  New YorK talent agencies and thus strives to ensure communication, comfort and respect - not only for her producers and clients - but also for all actors involved.

• Casting needs: Virtual now, and live eventually; I have specific casting needs and am also building files for the future. I have one project (I have an NDA on) that will require union and non-union performers with a series of special skills from aerial silks to double-dutch, and free-style rapping. I am also looking for actors for specific projects that I have scripts for and am ALSO looking to build my files for future projects that will need skilled performers on stage and screen. I don't believe that "just because an actor/actress does not have a Broadway credit does not mean that they are of Broadway caliber" thus - I am always looking for new talent and trying to find the right opportunities for that talent to shine and be seen. I have one television project that is filming in NY. One theatrical and voice over project that will be based out of LA. One feature and one series of short films that will most likely be filmed in NY but is looking for talent on both coasts (if we find an ideal candidate for the short films but they are based outside of NY - that team has already discussed paying for transport, housing etc. for the right performer to match the roles). AEA, non AEA, ethnically diverse, classically trained, musical theater, improv trained, good with comedy, LGBTQIA+, note if you are comfortable performing in drag, please indicate if you have any experience with rap or free-styling, and please include any other special skills you have on your resumes!
