BANSHEE, An Appalachian Horror Musical

About: I am the creator of Banshee - An Appalachian Horror Musical. I am working on finishing and releasing the album so I can get it workshopped. The music requires keen harmonies, hip hop/rap rhythms, old school traditional bluegrass vocals and choir-like ensemble throughout. For these ensemble pieces, think Celtic Thunder/Women. The acting is straight theatrics. The music never comes out of nowhere, it is social gatherings or ghosts. Think Brecht but Appalachian. It deals with social class issues and how one woman gets her revenge in death.

Our latest musical is titled "Bullet Points". The story concerns a high school teacher who returns to work the same day as a school shooting, which sends her life veering in unpredictable directions, both comic and tragic. The theme of the musical concerns trying to find a way to overcome the “us versus them” mentality that bifurcates our country, it's about learning to listen to people on the other side of an issue even if they disagree with your personal point of view.

NEW YORK THEATRE BARN

Mission: New York Theatre Barn is an anti-racist non-profit theatre company that serves as an inclusive home for original culture shifting musicals during incubation. The company has been incubating new musicals in front of live audiences since 2007, and creates space for artists to dream about how extraordinary the world can be. 

Multi-hyphenated performer and creative, Kimberly is an American Musical and Dramatic Academy and New School Musical Theater BFA program Graduate. During her time completing her BFA, she became a contributing writer and published author for PopSugar Latina, has performed in multiple college productions, along with other works including performing with the Broadway cast of Chicago for Broadway Cares, recording demos for new musical ""Starting Up"", appearing in CBS’s “The Code” and Nickelodeon’s “Club 57” on TV, and even modeling for Makeup Forever/Sephora. Recently taking on the role of assistant writer to Jesse Sanchez for ""Sueños: Our American Musical"" during its residency at NYTB, and now is the Associate Producer for New York Theatre Barn after taking on the role of Line Producer for NYTB’s Award-Winning New Work Series this past spring and upcoming fall. She is also working on her Master's Degree in Media Studies at The New School.

About: We are developing LPXR - Live Performance in eXtended Reality. That includes Performances IRL filmed and streamed live in VR; and Avatar theater (essentially full body puppets). We are also looking for on-camera live reporters and commentators. Shakespeare adaptations are likely soon. So is live reporting. Designed primarily to be watched in 3D 360 XR Internet, but also available on the current Internet with Mobile PC or Mac. Casting needs: Initially non-union. Interest in VR is a plus, but not essential.
